Where the Wind Takes Us
Where do babies come from?
Narrative Free-Verse by Kang Xiao Xuan (David)

Under the breath of the silent wind
A tiny seed is blown away
Full of life and potential
As it gently falls onto the soft soil
It slowly opens
Over time
Under the sunshine
Sprouts up
Spreads its wings
Flies into the sky
And the rain starts falling
Dropping
Its droplets are
Gently falling down
Down into the earth
And onto the plant
Day after day
Night after night
It keeps growing
Its beautiful flowers
Opening
Slowly spreading out
Blossoming
But nature is unforgiving
And the rain stops
And the drought comes
Everything changes
But the plant needs water
However
It was used for nourishment
And plentiful resources
And it can’t change in time
No matter how much it wants to rain
It never comes
It keeps hoping, tenaciously
Until the last second,
Its ashes left behind,
But everything else goes on
Like the plant
We take things for granted
We don’t expect it to be gone
And we often don’t cherish it
Until, well, it’s too late
